About the position:
With our portfolio of data products and insights at Burning Glass, we are seeking a professional to join our team with the communication skills to “tell a story,” crafting proposals that go beyond technical descriptions to provide readers with a view to the fundamental transformation that our solutions and data can help them achieve.  This position should be considered if you have outstanding writing and data skills, a flair for narrative, as well as a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.  You must feel comfortable writing about data and using data to write.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Proposal Writer / Storyteller responsible for writing and producing unique proposals for Burning Glass clients and prospective clients.  This position is responsible for framing each sales opportunity with a narrative that details in context-specific terms the full scope of value delivery that Burning Glass solutions can offer.  The position will also be responsible for responses to RFI’s, RFP’s and other potential customer information requests.

  • Communicate our key narrative and articulate the story of how Burning Glass Technologies can make transformations with our data and insights for a unique client solution.
  • Work directly with account managers, product managers, and Burning Glass support staff/subject matter experts to develop proposals and content that are unique and specific to each prospective customer’s needs and context.
  • Understand the sales lifecycle and work across the entire organization to develop proposal responses that highlight Burning Glass’ strategic advantages.
  • Draft value propositions and themes for new proposals that are consistent with messaging themes and which support brand identity.
  • Leverage Burning Glass applications to render data that can illustrate in a client-specific way the kinds of insights our solutions can deliver.
  • Concisely communicate complicated ideas in simple, direct storytelling manner.
  • Develop and apply a comprehensive understanding of value proposition across solution sets and client contexts.
  • Analyze the opportunity pipeline to identify emerging patterns of demand for our products and services.
  • Produce high-quality professional proposals, including writing original content and revising existing content, editing content provided by other team members, using, and maintaining document styles and templates, and preparing final submission documents.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality control of proposal responses by fact-checking, proofreading, and editing all content in proposals.
  • Review, update, add, and edit content housed in the proposals team's content management system and SharePoint site.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
  • Strong understanding of proposal writing tools, software, and graphic design tools.
  • 5+ years’ experience with writing in a business context.
  • Experience writing about technical subjects or a demonstrated interest in these subjects.
  • Strong data skills and experience in writing about and with data.
  • Excellent writing, editing, grammar and content organization skills. Writing samples required.  A writing test may be included.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint including formatting complex documents and using graphics, document management and version control, templates, and style sheets.
  • Proficiency in other Microsoft Office tools, including SharePoint and Visio, a plus.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Experience with content management systems is a plus.
  • Research, project management, or graphic design experience preferred
